Meet Fit Revolution’s December Member of the Month
17 Questions with Sam Jackson
Sam – December Member of the Month, reveals his New Years resolution, his biggest pet peeve, and more.
Who or what keeps you motivated? My wife, Nicole, and my kids, Brooks and Maeve. Want to make sure I do all I can so I can be there for them in every way.
Any mantra you repeat during an especially grueling workout? No- not really. Just remind myself to work hard and have fun.
Who has inspired you in your life and why? I have had some great teachers in my life, whether school or work, and they have always been an inspiration to me. There has not been one person in particular, maybe more a combination.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I love what I do currently but if I had the choice (chance?), I would go back to being an English teacher. Education was my first career and then veered here or there before landing in my current career (senior living). Maybe I will go back someday…
What are you known for? My patience. Though it can be a good and bad thing.
If you could live anywhere for one year where would you live? Sweden- I am Swedish on my mom’s side and have always loved the culture there. Costa Rica- went there with Nicole for our anniversary and could see living there. Maybe need to do 6 months each.
What were you like in high school? Trying to find my way- very middle of the road. Played varsity sports but not always very successfully. Decent grades. Loved the experience but wouldn’t go back again.
If you could be any age for one week, what age would you choose? 22
What are your favorite and least favorite words? How about favorite mantra? “He who is too wrapped up in himself is overdressed.”
What is your biggest pet peeve? Being blamed for something you can’t control.
What’s one thing you will never do again? Go to a multi-day music festival.
If I had one more hour in the day, I would… Catch up on the list of books I have wanting to be read!
Do you have any new year’s resolutions in mind? Shed these last few pounds before I reach my goal! And then- MAINTAIN!
How did you first find Fit Revolution? My wife. A friend of hers from high school was a member, and she thought it would be good for me to try.
How is FitRev different than other gyms you’ve tried? First of all, the team. Second, the other members. Third, the ability to sign up for classes a week ahead of time. Very rarely do I miss out on a spot for a class. Finally, I have never had the same class twice.
What’s your favorite FitRev memory? Getting Member of the Month! Actually, it was when I took a hiatus for a few months and my first class back, Michelle welcomed me back by name in front of the class. That showed me why I made the right decision to come back!
Could you share with us a favorite meal or recipe that we could share with the rest of the FitRev community?
Meal- Poached eggs over shaved asparagus with shallots and lemon.
Drink- Peach Old Fashioned- Four Roses bourbon, muddled peach, luxardo maraschino cherry, angostura bitters and agave
