Did you know Fanoula learned English in the 3rd grade? Check out Fanoula’s Q&A below!
When you’re not at FR or at work, where can we find you?
When I’m not at FR, you can find me cooking up another Greek delicacy from Baklava to Spanakopitia. You can also find me in the garden tending to herbs and planting perennials.
What’s your favorite post-workout snack/meal?
2 scrambled eggs with baby spinach. It fills me up and energizes me for the rest of the day!
Who or what keeps you motivated?
My husband, my children, and my family and friends ALL keep me motivated to strive for the best.
Which superpower would you like to have?
The power to heal and cure all diseases. It is heartbreaking to see our world suffer.
Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My biggest inspiration in my life was my grandmother, Panagiota Bikakis. She always gave great advice and one that stands out is “to be true and honest to yourself, and everything else will follow.” I miss her dearly and often remember her positive words of life!
What were you like in high school?
South Catholic High! I was called “Fanny! I had big, teased, curly, frizzy hair. Aqua net was the only hairspray that would hold it all together. I loved all sports. I played softball and was a basketball cheerleader all throughout high school. I had many great friends and still keep in touch with them today.
If you could be any age for one week, what age would you choose?
21! I would be adventurous and explore more options at an age of no worries, responsibilities and real world problems.
If you had a warning label on you, what would it say?
Beware of entry: once accepted you are my friend for life!
What’s one thing you will never do again?
Underestimate myself. I truly find fitness and exercise to be an important part of my life. I have struggled with weight loss after I had my 3 children, and tried many different diet recommendations. I now know that the key is diet AND exercised combined. I believe that if I can do this – anyone can!
What’s one thing about you someone wouldn’t know unless they really knew you?
I learned to speak English in the 3rd grade! I worked alongside my parents at their business restaurant since I was 8 years old. Constant communication with customers, employees and clients is where I enhanced my English-speaking skills.
If you could design your very own workout what would it include?
It would include positive energy, great laughs, capturing all muscle groups with weight training, cardio intervals ending with a 10-minute stretch to the tune of Mr. Telephone Man by New Edition. HAH!
How is FitRev different than other gyms you’ve tried?
I have been a member at FitRev for almost 2 years. From the very first day I knew this place fit perfectly for my fitness expectations. I find all the classes to be unique, challenging, fun, strenuous and up to date with training. More importantly, I feel that we are all there to help and support one another, and sharing this commonality is what separates FitRev from any other gym that I have visited. This is my happy place! I thank Michelle and her entire crew for this opportunity.
Could you share with us a favorite meal or recipe that we could share with the rest of the FitRev community?
My favorite food is Greek grilled chicken salad with cabbage and greek olives.
Speak Greek to us!
