FitRev Roadies: A Scenic Kayaking Adventure on Mystic River

 In blog

In June, FitRev Roadies launched with an inaugural adventure: a fun-filled kayaking trip up the Mystic River.  With a group, an exciting excursion took place on June 27th 2024, and offered FitRev Roadies a unique opportunity to enjoy the outdoors!

The Adventure

The journey began in Somerville, where the group of FitRevers gathered at Paddle Boston..  They grabbed their kayaks and embarked on a serene 4 mile paddle up the Mystic River, eventually arriving at Mystic Lake in Winchester.  Along the way our Kayakers enjoyed the serene wildlife, scenic skylines, calm lakes, and the beauty of the Mystic River, a hidden gem just a short trip outside of Boston.  The trip lasted around 2 hours and covered a whole 8 miles!

Once the kayaking journey was complete, the group met at Night Shift Brewing in Everett, only a few short minutes down the street.  Night Shift Brewing served up an array of craft brews, hard seltzers, and cocktails, with food trucks and live music to cap off the night with an exciting and festive atmosphere.

Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Excursion at Independence Park

In August,  FitRev Roadies headed to the coast for a fantastic stand-up paddle boarding event at Independence Park in Beverely Massachuests.  This ocean adventure, hosted by Coast to Coast  Paddleboard, attracted participants eager to explore the beauty of the coastline as well as those itching to experience paddle boardings active and easy fun!

The Experience

The group met at the Coast to Coast Paddleboard kiosk at Independence Park in Beverly MA. After taking time to park and gather all the essential equipment, the paddleboarders set off on a guided tour! The tour catered to all skill levels making it accessible and fun for both beginners and seasoned paddleboarders.

Independence Park was the perfect area for this event.  From its rich maritime history and small beach town charm, Independence Park had it all.  Participants paddled along peaceful and scenic Collins Cove and had the opportunity to take in serene sights like the nearby Hospital Point light only being a short paddle away.

Post Paddle Fun

After the two hour paddle, the group headed to Rev Kitchen & Bar located in Beverly MA, to continue the fun.  Paddlers relaxed and socialized over great food and drinks capping off the adventurous and fun evening.
