Meet Michelle
Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by and checking out Fit Revolution!
My name is Michelle, and I live in North Reading with my hubby, George, and our three beautiful children. (Just missing our pup, Bailey, in the pic!)
I’ve always lived in beautiful Massachusetts, growing up in Arlington and even spent four years at Bentley University where I met my hubby!
As George and I started our family, we worked nonstop, and I started to think – how can I be at home more to be with my kids? George traveled A LOT, I mean A LOT. So, we decided that I would take on a few part time jobs where I could dictate my own hours, so as we all do, I JUGGLED what felt like the world! Just to name a few:
- bookkeeper for a couple places
- opened my own tax practice
- mentoring to become a fitness instructor
I soon fell in love with fitness and thought “maybe I can do this for a career?”
Once I discovered my passion, I quickly became certified in a few areas. I started teaching up to twelve classes per/ week and after four years of teaching at multiple gyms, I committed myself to one. I had some amazing experiences there and most importantly, I was offered unforgettable opportunities by a certain someone – you know who you are! I truly believe certain things happen for a reason because when things started to not work out for me, I decided to take a chance and open my own fitness facility. However, without that little push, I am not sure I would have embarked on this amazing journey that is FitRev!
“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up.”
In the summer of 2012, it finally happened. FitRev was opened!
I found a very small space where we built a spin studio, which also had access to a big turf field for all our other classes.
Fit Revolution’s FIRST Bootcamp EVER! I was so nervous that morning just hoping a few people would show up. Love you, ladies!!
I had unlimited support from friends and people who had taken classes with me for years. I was very lucky and blessed that my original team joined me. We opened in September and I was terrified! I was one of the first studios to open up and I had a lot of people telling me I was CRAZY! In my heart, I believed in myself and in the idea of people taking challenging, fun classes instead of just joining a gym. I worked hard, made a lot of great decisions, (along with a lot of mistakes), but every single day has been a learning experience.
“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
One of our first classes on the turf!
What our spin studio looked like when we first opened. One word: grateful.
We started to grow quickly with help from referrals and Groupon. We started to build an amazing community and the FitRev family began to grow right in front of our eyes.
My motto: “I just need to get them here and FitRev will speak for itself.”
Fit Rev Facts:
- Year 1 was half way through and I knew we needed more space to grow.
- Over the summer of 2013, we took on a huge expansion and went from 800 – 5,000 sq feet.
Our Small Turf Expansion!
- New spin bikes arrived October 1, 2015! (Can you tell I was a little excited..?!)
- We now have amazing space that allows us to provide some of the best classes around!
Our Big Turf! Who doesn’t love to plank?!
Our Studio!
- There is something for everyone on our class schedule and we continue to change and update our offerings to stay current with the latest fitness trends.
On this blog I will be sharing workouts, recipes, and anything Michelle – Fit Rev related. Seeing people come out of their comfort zone and accomplishing goals puts a huge smile on my face. U GO Girl!!!
love my home away home…..so grateful to be part of the team where I have met so many inspirational people that I can proudly call my gym family!
Michelle,
I loved reading this and learning the story behind the success of FIT-REV. It is so great to see another small business grow and grow. I look forward to reading more blog posts. What a great idea. I am happy to have moved on to the next chapter in my goal to be, and stay fit. I am thankful you “held my hand” so to speak in the beginning and helped my sister out as well. I love the team you have created and glad that I can reap the benefits of it! I also enjoy the camaraderie of everyone taking the classes. Thanks again for sharing….wishing you many more years of success in the future.
Great story!! Would not be running this marathon without the help of you and the amazing instructors at Fit-Rev!!! Thank you.
Michelle, you know I love your vibe and am so happy for the continued success of Fit Rev! Even though I am a sporadic Rev’er (you just can’t keep me from the great outdoors) every single class I’ve been to since you opened has been a pumped up, sweaty success. Love the positive atmosphere and high-energy instructors. Keep it going!!
Love this, Michelle! Feel so honored to be in the pic from first bootcamp! 🙂
