FitRev Instructor Spotlight – Elise Abbott!
This week we turn the spotlight to another one of our incredible instructors, Elise Abbott!
We feel very lucky that Elise joined our team! We were surprised to learn that it wasn’t until after College that Elise became passionate about fitness. After leaving Graphic Design, and the corporate world behind, fitness became the perfect complement for her busy life as a mom of three active boys. Elise’s goal for her students, no matter what shape, size or age, is to have fun in her classes and let go of any insecurities, and we love her for that.
Elise was the first instructor to start up our “Pop Up” class series by introducing pulse, tuck and hold to FitRev, and we haven’t been the same since! She taught us that it doesn’t have to be heavy to be effective and it doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Fit Barre has been so high in demand that we added a second class on Wednesday nights. We love how Elise brought a new and challenging workout to our FitRev community!
Did you know Elise has been dancing since she could walk? Check out Elise’s fun facts below!
- I have been dancing since I could walk, I am a very shy person, but put me on a stage with some music and I am right at home. I trained in ballet, lyrical, tap and jazz, performed in community theatre and even did a commercial (I will never tell which one). My family oozes with talent, we consist of dancers (my aunt is the choreographer for the famous Hasty Pudding awards) painters and musicians. There is always music on our house and we dance non-stop. Lol!
- I hung up my pointe shoes in College, and after I received my BFA in Graphic Design I worked for 12 years as a designer. I even got to travel to Italy for work. It was a hard job to give up after having 3 boys, but I always knew I would go back to art or dance. I found Zumba (mix of dance/fitness) fell in love and became an instructor, I then expanded to teaching Aqua Zumba and Barre. I am currently studying to get my Group-Ex certification so I can be a more well-rounded instructor.
- I am a home-body, it is rare to find me out painting the town red. My family, husband and 3 kids, keep things busy. We love to travel together, exercise and snuggle a lot.
- As a woman, I pride myself in being comfortable in my own skin. Fitness, like art, is so colorful, it is filled with all shapes and sizes and my hope is that my students leave class feeling accomplished. For one hour, out of their lives, I hope they forget the stresses of life and enjoy the time they are taking to work on themselves. I love my curves; I accept my imperfections and yes I love food.
Thank you, Michelle, for inviting me into Fit Rev and thank you to the students that support me. I love feedback from members and other instructors.
